Description:  <font color="#663300" face="Times New Roman,Arial" size="2">The Foundation for the Development of the Quebradas Biological Reserve (FUDEBIOL) is a private, non-profit organization constituted on May 13th, 1989, under the Costa Rican Law of Foundations #5338. The organization was created to combat the deforestation and soil erosion that was taking place in the Upper Quebradas River Basin, the area that provides San Isidro with its potable water.<br><br>The foundation was created by the inhabitants of the Upper Quebradas River Basin, as well as surrounding communities. In 1990, the foundation was declared an organization of public interest by the government of Costa Rica (Acuerdo #195 27/11/90).<br><br>The primary objective of Fudebiol is to promote the conservation and protection of the Upper Quebradas River Basin. In order to achieve this goal, the foundation actively promotes sustainable agriculture, eco-tourism, and scientific research in the area, in the hopes of raising the standard of living of the local residents. The foundation strives to encourage national development while protecting biological integrity.<br>The Biological Center is privileged by its natural richness as a source to increase our knowledge of biodiversity conservation and ecology and human life fundamentals. With the support of national institutions, as well as international organizations, the involvement of the community, the associates of the foundation, and our volunteers, we have built facilities for the operation of the Center. Today we count with:<br><br>· Nature School Building.<br>· Butterfly Farm.<br>· A Mountain Lodge.<br>· Production of Organic Fertilizer.<br>· Pico de Zoncho y La Cruz Sightseeing Decks.<br>· Mountain Trails (El Camino, Uña de Tigre, La Quebrada y Pico de Zoncho).<br>· La Cordillera Hike (Biological Center, La Cruz, Miravalles, Santa Marta and Biological Center).<br></font><font color="#663300" face="Times New Roman,Arial" size="2"><br></font>
